Congressional candidate Bob Van Valkenburg (that's me) has chosen to use www.vansopinion.com to share information with you, the voters of Nebraska's First Congressional District and the rest of the world, in his race to be selected as the Republican Party's candidate in the contest to pick a successor for Congressman Douglas Bereuter who is leaving that position to work for one or more Asian governments
A dozen candidates seek to represent Nebraska's First Congressional District as the 26 year veteran, Douglas Bereuter departs the post to become the President of the Asia Foundation. You can see what that organization is all about by logging in to www.asiafoundation.org.
www.vanspoinion.com was originally placed on-line to allow me, Bob Van Valkenburg, a resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, a forum to share my thoughts and opinions on local, national and international news events and subjects with you - my old friends and new ones. Since its advent on the first of April a year ago the number of "hits" (people logging in) grown to the extent they are now measuring thousands. Such being the case, the decision was made not to crank up another political web site as many other candidates have done, but rather, to use my existing and well read web site for the purpose of continuing the sharing of my thoughts and opinions with you, especially now that I have become a serious contender in the congressional race.
You are welcome to respond to any article you read here or in your local newspapers by sending an e-mail to van@vansopinion.com (note: no apostrophe) You may also have questions about statements made on television or radio which I have made and want to know more. Your responses will be answered at the earliest possible time.
Remember, you can make a difference in your government by voting on May 11, 2004. You can make a big difference by voting for me, BOB VAN VALKENBURG, to be your next congressman. I would very much appreciate your vote!
