A CHURCH, A CHAIR, A BOY AND A PRAYER
News and Views There comes a time in life when one is moved to reflect upon major events in his or her life as old friends, relatives, family members “cash in their chips” and depart the game of life. As the days, months and years come and go, the hectic responsibilities of life take the greater majority of a persons time to give much thought to details of a full Christian life being lived.  When the Lord has given a person four score and more years of life, each remaining day becomes more precious.  And so it is, as I take time to reflect on a most important event in my own life.  How, where and when I became fully aware of the price my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ paid for my sins, past, present and future as well as those of each and every one of us and of His assurance of life everlasting guaranteed through Faith in the Grace of The Man born in Bethlehem.

WHEN THE CALL TO DUTY TOUCHES TOO CLOSE TO HOME
News and Views I wrote this article for the “Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police Journal, Vol. 4, No. 1, Winter 1985-86 edition which was at a time when the “farm and ranch” crisis was placing law enforcement officers in very trying and even dangerous conditions.  It was a tribute to those men and women in uniform and its message is still appropriate

YOUNG PEOPLE'S BILL OF RESPONSIBILITIES
News and Views
The following was taken from a very old newspaper clipping which has been passed around in my family for many years. Parents and concerned citizens need to put a stop to liberal educators and "left leaning" social scientists using our children as laboratory subjects for their own personal experimentation. I strongly believe the faculty and administrators of our schools should take a hard look at what worked in the past and apply such in the future. If anyone can supply me with the identity of the author of this article, I’ll make sure proper attributions are later given. Here it is.

STORIES THE DRIVE BY MEDIA ARE AFRAID TO PUBLISH
News and Views
Ever since I ran the first story on Vansopinion.com [now Vansopinions.com] years ago, like others, I have withheld stories, pulled punches to avoid embarrassing folks who should have been embarrassed and have been extremely "Politically Correct." Seldom did I ever include names, addresses and telephone numbers of those needing exposure. That is about to change! The Vansopinions readers, will feast upon stories the "drive by" media are afraid to publish.

PROCLAMATIONS OF THANKSGIVING BY PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN
News and Views
Lest we forget, it was Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States of America, and the first Republican holding that office who set aside a day for our nation and it’s people to give thanks to God. During his presidency the Civil War began and ended after his re-election to that office. Lincoln was called an ape, a baboon, a buffoon, a clown, a usurper, a traitor, a tyrant, a monster, an idiot, a eunuch, a bigot, a demagogue, a lunatic, a despot, a blunderer, a charlatan and a bully, It is said that from the day of his inauguration to the day of his assassination the invective was unrelenting, but he never abandoned his sense of humor, his dedication to purpose and his reverence for God. The same might be said of the forty-third president, also a Republican - George W. Bush whose tour of duty involved an unpopular war. Both served with dignity, both loved their country, both put patriotism before politics! Both "Stayed the course." The United States of America is a better place because of each of them

IT'S A GOOD TIME TO SAY, "I LOVE YOU MOM"
News and Views
As you might suspect, from the hundreds of thousands who have read the articles on this "blog", I get sent more than plenty of cute, patriotic, religious and though provoking articles. Usually, I read them, laugh a bit or even occasionally tear-up a bit then press the "delete" button and send most of them into cyber-space. The following article is one of those rare exceptions. It touched my heart as I know it will yours. The author had pondered, as all of us have whose Mothers are now in Heaven, all of the things we wish we had told that special lady who, in the fullness of time, took God’s hand in hers and together, they gave us life. In honor of my own Mother, my wife, my daughters and my sisters, all of whom are Mothers, I am sharing this gem with you on "MOTHERS’ DAY, 2008.". .

KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's AND 70's
News and Views
As each year draws to a close, those of us who have been allowed to live during the decades in question sometimes take time to reflect upon the past. Memories of events from years gone by and faces of friends, many of whom have passed on seem to surface for a moment or two than fade back into our mental "hard drives." Most of us look back at our childhood, those simpler times, and wish the "kids" of today could have as much fun with so little. As parents and grandparents, we wonder how we got along raising our little ones without having all of the "safety" gadgets which our current over-protective government demands. A good friend furnished me with the following article which caused me to take a few moments from the present to ponder the past. Since I enjoyed it and I’d like to share it with my readers. Enjoy..

A MIDDLE EAST IMPERATIVE
News and Views
Another assessment of where the US stands in relation to the Middle East problems, this one according to John R. (Jack) Farrington, Major General (Retired), "is from the guy who had his finger on the nuclear trigger for three years as head of our defense and response complex buried under Cheyenne Mountain at Colorado Springs. He was the only person who could initiate a nuclear attack after advising the sitting president of a missile launch by our enemies and our need to respond. No political or civilian type in the US had more knowledge about day to day military actions around the world. Everyone should find quiet time to read this. As far as I am concerned, it is exactly the direction we should go and the consequences of not doing so are well thought out." I personally called and visited with Brig. Gen. (Ret.) USAF and verified the authenticity of the story which follows. General Cash is truly a great American and tells it like it is. Read what he has to say and understand this isn't going away any time soon folks! I strongly recommend you invite your friends to also read and spread the message of the story which follows are attributed to the now retired general.

A DAY WITHOUT AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT
News and Views Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has, in my opinion, the "scrotal capacity" to address our country's immigration program in such a manner than anyone with an IQ greater than their shoe size can understand the magnitude of the problem. It's a shame most others in the Congress, even my own "Stealth Congressman" place a much higher priority to getting "re-elected" than in representing the best interests of our country. While Tancredo won't be able to put together the requisite millions to be successful in his campaign for the Oval Office, the good people of Colorado should keep him in the House of Representatives for many years to come. Read what he had to say on the subject.

THE SECRET SERVICE VIEWS OF PAST PRESIDENTS
News and Views
I believe you will find the Secret Service views of the personalities of our current and past presidents to be quite interesting and reflective of the character of our current president and some of those who occupied the Oval Office before him. I am furnishing to my readers a report which was forwarded to me. It is the writing of a United Air Lines pilot who, while in the military, flew many Special Air Missions for the White House. As a former military pilot myself, I can tell you first hand some elected officials and high ranking officers are first class pains in the fanny while others appreciate the safe and professional treatment all military pilots try to give their "PAX" (passengers) while on the ground and in the air. Consider this information as you make future political decisions
