DYNAMIC DUO TO HEAD LANCASTER COUNTY G.O.P.

At long last Lancaster County Republicans can see light at the end of the tunnel. A compromise has been reached between heretofore split factions to make political pals out of egomaniacal enemies. On September 9, 2003, John Lyon Spray will hand over the gavel to his successor and a new energized Republican Party will be resurrected.
The hot coals of the party faithful finally said enough is enough! My vast and half-vast sources have revealed that compromises were hammered out and deals were cut and its all over but the voting. The new Lancaster County G.O.P. chairman will be Jim Haga and his co-chair will be Darlene Starman. What a neat Lancaster County Republican combination.
Certainly no one can take away from the political successes and zeal shown over the years by the reigning royalty of real estate - Darlene Starman. Ms. Starman has championed a number of successful campaigns including those of governor Mike Johanns and county commissioner Deb Schorr and has been a "star" player on many, many others. Darlene was elected by her peers as president of the local real estate association and has a list of business and political credits a yard or two long. Her well established political savvy and connections will be of immense help to Jim Haga who is, by his own choice, somewhat of a political Novice.
Jim, the top dog at Lincoln School of Commerce, heads an educational establishment growing geometrically in a number of cities. His business moxie, his sincerity of purpose and the fact he is just one heck of a nice guy will hold him in good stead even with those who might have a difference with him on an issue or two.
While neither Jim or Darlene are "single issue" political figures, Jim leans toward the "Right to Life" side of the fence while Darlene has historically been more associated with the "Choice" crowd. Both have sense enough and experience enough in the real world of politics to know the first duty of true leaders is to get your party's candidates elected! Republican platform issues are really not too important if Republican candidates are not elected and re-elected. This dynamic duo will keep their priorities straight, and by so doing, at long last bring the Lancaster County Party back together again.
Getting these new co-captains to take the helm will cause many of us to become more active financial supporters of local party activities again. Congratulations in advance to Jim and Darlene, a couple of hard working genuinely nice people.
The preceding was not a paid political announcement - but of course donations can be addressed to the party treasurer. Just kidding.
