THROW ALL THE CORK-SOCKERS OUT

It seems that every day one or more professional ball players are discovered perverting the sports which they have a primary responsibility to keep clean. Whether the players are found to be Coke-Sniffers or Cork-Sockers, its time to clean the creeps out of the locker rooms of American sports. Our kids deserve better roll models.
The most recent revelation that Chicago Cubs' super-star Sammy Sousa had been using a baseball bat containing cork has opened up baseball for closer scrutiny of players conduct and the equipment they use. Some believe that cork inside a wooden bat will help a player hit the ball farther. The practice of using cork in a bat is against baseball rules. Sousa is not the only Cork-Socker. According to reports in the media, the Cork-Socking Cult includes Albert Belle, Wilton Guerrero, Billy Hatcher and Graid Nettles.
Sousa's story after being discovered using a "corked" bat was that he picked up the wrong bat. He said he only used the illegal bats during batting practice so the fans would get a charge out of seeing him hit long balls.
Where do these guys get the goofy idea that fans are stupid enough to get a charge out of learning big name players have been breaking rules just "for show." What about the young people who look up to professional ball players as role models? The kids playing sand-lot baseball that dream about "growing up" and being like Babe or Lou or even Sammy.
There is something that is almost treasonous about tampering with baseball, the All-American sport. In my opinion, there should only be one strike in the ball game of athletic honesty. One strike and you're out if you cheat the fans and the kids out of an honest game.
I could go on all day about the BATS and throwing the Cork-Sockers out, but the money grubbing owners of professional ball clubs that grossly overcharge for admission tickets very likely won't have the BALLS to dump a million dollar player.
